RULES OF PLAY

  1. No Fighting -
On the first occurrence OR if a serious injury results the player(s) will be taken off the roster. A pro-rated refund will be given dependent on the player's conduct.

  2. Three Incident Rule -
When an unresolved issue between two players escalates to the point where an organizer has to get involved (verbally or physically) causing a pro-longed stoppage of play, the players will be assessed an incident.  Any player who accumulates three incidents will be taken off the roster and given a refund for the remaining ice schedule. It will be the sole discretion of an organizer of what constitutes an incident, no discussions. Incidents do not expire and three incidents represent a pattern of conduct that will not be tolerated.

  3. No Checking -
Body checking is not allowed at any time and contact should be minimal and infrequent. Players must play to minimize the risk of injury to fellow players.  Injuring another player can result in the player being either being assessed an incident, or if intentional being removed from the roster with a refund dependent on the players conduct.

  4. No Substitutes Allowed -
Players cannot arrange a fill-in player to participate in their absence. Goalies arranging last minute replacements excluded.

  5. No Walk-Ons -
Off roster players will be not be invited to skate if the roster is full AND all players have paid in full. Exceptions will be made by the organizer only when less than 20 skaters are expected.

  6. Players In Good Standing -
Players will NOT be allowed to skate without a signed waiver AND payment by the third skate.

  7. Normal Hockey Rules Apply -
In the absence of referees, common play stoppages are called by the players on the ice and then the puck should be turned over to the defensive team.    Common calls include: off sides; pucks hitting the netting above the boards; pucks caught in the goal netting; an injured player; the goal being knocked off the posts; the puck is out of sight under a player or goalie; or a goal being scored.  Following a turn over of the puck the defensive team should be given to their blue line before being challenged for puck control. Play stoppages should be minimal by resuming play quickly. In the event of disputed goals, commonly the entire play will be negated and the play will be restored to a point preceding the call.

  8. Player Injuries -
When players suffer a sports injury that require extended recovery time (more than three skates), arrangements can be made with the organizer to arrange have him arrange a temporary replacement player and a play credit while absent. If the player does not inform the organizer that he is unable to  play, then no special arrangements or credits will be considered.

  9. Equitable Play Time -
A full team roster represent 24 skaters, so a full bench of 12 players on each side is possible (but not common).  To ensure equal play time for everyone, the following play guidelines will be used:
    • Warm ups will be kept to 5-10 minutes maximum, so arrive early to warm up.
    • Keep shifts to about 2 minutes, if your out longer your not skating hard enough!
    • If there are more than 10 players on the bench the forwards will roll down the bench with the last person off the ice being the last on the bench to go back out
    • Shift changes will be done continually during play, since play is continuous
